Homecoming

Homecoming

I

I see the man on the ledge

Walking down the path

Rather crawling in fatigue,

Smile on his face,

Smirking at me, mocking me,

The night creeps on him

Covers him from all sides

Drives him crazy.

II

I see the man everyday

Walking down the path

Rather crawling in fatigue,

Returns home every night.

To his pregnant wife,

To his unborn daughter,

Laughs as he enters home

As if celebrating homecoming

Of the bane yet to come.

III

I see the man alive

Walking down the path

Rather crawling in fatigue,

An indomitable spirit.

Alive and awake,

Struggling yet unbending

Surviving the storm, the blizzard

That blinds the world.

IV

I see the man coming

I see him running in pain

He inspires me

His spirit move my soul

Lifts it up from the dust

Removes the harrowing sadness

The heart that aches

The soul that cries, in vain

Let him come! Home!
